Hi everyone. I had first round of chemo on 21st and for the last three days had problems with stomach after eating. I m suffering with wind, indigestion and heartburn. Has anyone had the same symptoms and if so any advice and how long does it last. Thanks.

  • I had really bad indigestion- contact your team and they can give you tablets to stop it.

  • Are you maybe constipated? If it's EC, then it tends to do that in the first week unless you drink lots. If you're getting reflux try gaviscon advance (the best over the counter one to  soothe your tummy and throat etc.) And it helps protect your teeth too. X

    Hiya

Yes i suffered terribly with indigestion and heart burn. It is a common side effect. Mention it when you go for your next chemo or ring your GP.

I was given lansoprazol tablets to take every day, they were amazing and helped a lot with the feeling of sickness too.

Hi Thanks for the advice. Did ring and ask my chemo unit but for some reason they wouldn t give me anything.  Rang the GP and they have given me Lansoprazole too. If you have finished treatment - did it all go back to normal afterwards.

Yep all went back to normal. I was also told lansoprazole is good while having chemo because it protects your stomach from  all the drugs your taking xx
