Hello Ladies

Well done all - we are still standing!! YAY!!

Background is: Ca breast - surgery March 19 Rads May-June19. First mammogram clear - Yay!

I have a couple of queries ladies if you can help.

So I am pretty much heading into almost 12 months since Radiotherapy. I have been exercising regularly since the Rads finished and I felt like I could (mid July) and I have regained full range of movement in my arm back.

However, My rib/muscle under the Radded Boob has on going (mild) discomfort. I would really, really struggle still to wear an underwired bra.

If i go to stretch for an object I often get sudden sharp crampy type pain over my rib cage.

I have spoken to my GP recently and she pretty much said that Rad Therapy can cause all sorts of damage to muscles etc and I am sure that that is what this is.

What I am trying to find out from the ladies who have gone before is ... does this get better? Anyone get anything similar? Is this likely to be long term?

I'm not overtly bothered by this although it is annoying. I'm asking just for information or to know if this is just one of those suck it up and get on with it moments lol!

Looking forward to getting tactile again when all this isolation lark is over.

Boy do I miss hugs!!

Thank you ladies in advance

  • Hi Mazzie5 well done on getting through the mud and coming out the other end and all clear as well champagne and bubbles time methinks.

If it of any consolation to you I have exactly the same thing and have been told the same as you that it is the Radiotherapy that has done some damage to my ribs area but not enough to cause any major issues.

I haven't worn my underwires since unfortunately because where it is the underwire seems to sit on top of it so pretty uncomfortable. I just wear the soft bras from Asda like sports tops but really good support.

You have actually given me some re-assurance with your post as I was beginning to get concerned as I am now 3 years down the road so maybe we are with this for the long haul.

Sending hugs your way meantime. xxxxx

    Hi Gail

Thank you for replying. I am glad I'm not in this boat alone!!

Likely long haul it is then! It's just so reassuring to know this!

    Again thank you.

Don't need too much of an excuse anymore to open the fizzy pop!!

    Make hay and all that!

    Hi ladies

Am in the same situation!    The RT even after 20 months suddenly flares up like it wants to say 'I'm still around' every few weeks this happens then is quiet for a few months.  My op was left side and when the pinching happens I kind of know its the rads playing up. Not the heart.      'Betty' (see profile) loathes bras it still hurts I've bought loads different styles so except for going out for essential shopping they hang free indoors with a soft cushion for support sitting down.  Asda's one size no wires are OK.

I hope the discomfort eases for you and I will visualise to raise a glass of Red in your direction -  clink chink.  Slight smile
