Hi ladies - I have had it first round of chemo, so far not too good, very nauseous and fatigued and had a swollen tongue yesterday which meant a quick trip to the busy a&e department...I’m already so ready for this to be over! I’m 32 and my kids need me at the moment what with them all being at home and I can’t do anything with them. I just feel so ratty and bothered. And this is only after one round of chemo!! is there any fun times in all this? Sorry for the moan xx
Sorry to hear of the horrible experiences your having after your first round of chemo. Try and be positive, one down only ? to go. Havent started chemo yet so although I havent experienced your symptoms I can support you along with everyone else on this site.
Dont apologise for moaning . We are all in this together at every stage of our treatments.

Thanks Linda x
it’s one of 8 sessions.
I just want it over with so I can have surgery and radiotherapy and get this done xx
Hi there, I can only give you my experience in that I had 6 sessions of chemotherapy and was fine for first few days after then had a week of not feeling very well and then bounced back...that’s your fun time there! This is completely doable, be kind to yourself and take the rest you need. Believe me before you know it, it will be over. x
I've had surgery but not looking forward to chemo. Dont know yet how many sessions mine will be. I think it is quite normal for sickness, fatigue and swollen tongue. I really understand your wish to just get it over and done with., I certainly feel the same.
Always here for a chat/moan or rant

Hi ,
Sorry to hear. I had 4 rounds of chemo before my surgery. I kept a chemo diary recording how I felt. Then I could monitor what to adjust for next time. For instance my steroids the first time I took the day before on the day of chemo and day after however felt like I came crashing down so my oncologist adjusted the doses and I took the steroids for longer at reduced doses which helped a lot so by the time I had my 4th dose was so much better. For me it wasn’t nausea but stomach upset and running to the toilet . Good luck sending well wishes

Thank you :) everybody’s words are so comforting xx
Hi,
You do have good days between chemo on 1 or 2 days I even felt fantastic. Think just pace yourself . I took omeprazole to protect your stomach lining and that helped. Somebody advised me to do things in small bouts which also helped me. Take care

Hi
Sorry you had it rough with first round Take your anti sickness tabs if they not working tell your unit they will prescribe another one .
Im afraid the symptoms you describe are fairly normal but you do adjust . Keep a diary so you can see a pattern appear then you can plan your good days ....yes there are some .
Day one is day of treatment I was on three weekly So by day Ten I would start to feel better building up to having days out by day 15 to treatment day again .
If you are not already using a mouthwash can help with mouth problems . I used to get it from my unit
It is doable and can be manageable have a look on April 2020 chemo thread some good info on there .
