So tomorrow I am getting a phone call from my local hospital its strange the thought of not actually seeing a Consultant face to face as a first 2 week wait appointment. I don't know what to say to him. As they found a nodule in my breast on a ct. scan taken of my lung. I have pain and discomfort if I lay on my left side and I sometimes get discomfort just sitting. But I can't feel a lump. I'm feeling worried and scared that I won't say everything I should and because consultant can't see me to examine me.
Has anyone already been through this process a phone call as first appointment. HOW DID IT GO.
I hope you all have a comfortable night. Take care x
Dearest Countrygirlblues,
I am sorry you find yourself here, however, the knowledge here is amazing, so don't ever feel alone, together we are stronger and between us all we are a mind of information.
I can't offer much advice for this, I would say make a few notes of main questions and worries you have. Say you mind is all over the place and can you have a contact number as you can't think of what you need to ask (or his secretaries).
Ask if he knows what the 'nodule' is?
You will most likely need a mammogram, an ultrasound and a biopsy - most are given all on the same day - then you should have more of an answer.
What he as in mind with regards to treatment?
Do they know what it is (could be lots of things, cyst, fatty lump, BC).
If you get nervous about asking questions (I do) so I always say 'family have asked me to ask'.
Most of all take it one moment at a time, we can't plan what will be said, just try to get a contact number so you can all back, you might be allocated a BC Nurse - if so, again you want a contact number.
I'm sorry I can't offer much more help than this.
Sending you a big virtual hug - we will be thinking of you xxx
Dear What happened, thank you for your reply. I feel slightly calmer this morning after sleep. Thank you for the tip of getting contact number it's a good point. I'm going to try and have my phone on loud speaker so my daughter hears what is said as sometimes you don't always hear everything said. Well i will wait and see what happens this afternoon. Take care of yourself and thank you again for taking the time to answer my post it has helped. X
Morning Clare / Countrygirlblues
Don't know if this is do'able but could your daughter record the conversation so you could play it back in bite size pieces ?
G n' J
G n J thank you for your idea that might be a good idea. Will see if we can. Hope you have a good day ahead of you. X Clare
Hi Clare Countrygirlblues,
thinking of you today and hoping that phone call goes ok and is reassuring. Getting contact numbers so you can phone back, especially that of a BCN is a number one priority.
Sending big hugs, please let us know how it goes xxx
