Hello everyone. I've just joined the community having recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery 4 weeks ago and was prescribed Letrozole which I started taking 5 days ago. As of yesterday I've had a brownish vaginal discharge.

It's not itchy or painful but I'm not sure if I should do anything about it - or indeed what to do, as my medical practice has now stopped taking even telephone consultations and I don't want to clog up NHS helplines unless it's really necessary at this horrendous time. Can anyone advise me if I need to do anything about it and who best to contact?

  • Hi ,

I take Letrozole, I’m 10 months in now.

Discharge can be one of the side effects of anti hormone treatment. Obviously I’m no Dr but please check the leaflet inside the packet of your tablets just to check.

Just keep a eye on it, or check with your oncologist team.

Wishing you all the best x

    Hi Beachwalker,

Yes I had seen this was one of the possible side effects, though iirc not one of the more commonly experienced ones. I'll ring the oncology department today to be on the safe side.

    Thanks for replying Beachwalker :-)

    Take care x
