Hi everyone, I just wanted to say, I had my operation last Monday, mastectomy and lymph nodes removed. Operation went well and recovery also going ok, I did suffer from constipation due to the codine and I took some Senekot which got everything moving again. I just wanted to recommend Senekot to anyone about to have an operation.
I was quite stressed before hand but I had a positive mantra and some breathing exercises and I was taken such good care of at Hayward’s Heath, I really had nothing to worry about. Now I wait for my treatment plan which will be chemo and radio and because I’m 38, hormone pills.
Sending luck and love to everyone xx

  • Senekot may become your new best friend! Chemo gave me constipation and just as that stopped I now have the same with tamoxifen. Always some in my cupboardJoyJoy

I start EC Chemo next week. Would you recommend taking Senokot before the chemo or day after? Also which senokat do you recommend- syrup or tablets?

  • All the best for next week. I would wait and see if it affects you. I had Senekot tablets and movicol (sachets you dilute). Drink plenty of water.
You may end up with the runs so don’t take anything until you need it.
    all the best x

Just an update. Had first EC Chemo last Tuesday. Felt ok until Saturday when tired - but generally ok. Constipation has been the only enemy to date. Despite loads of water and exercising daily still no movement without help! Is this something that will last the full cycle each time or does it improve without help in 3rd week?
