Hi Everyone
I heard something interesting today .
biological safety adviser to conference -
Washing your hands is the most important step to avoiding passing germs
DELIGATE asks - if money has been spent on Hand sanitising gel , isn’t that enough .?
SAFETY ADVISER - well if you go to the toilet and get shit
( sorry but that’s the actual words )
on your hands , then you use sanitising gel
- you will have sanitised shit on your hands !!
Wash them and you have clean hands !!
SO WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN AND AFTER EVERY VISIT TO THE TOILET THEN YOU MUST WASH THEM AFTER USING SANITISING GEL A MAX OF FOUR TIMES .
avoid touching your face ,
Stay safe from germs.

I learnt from a Catering manager that fans sanitiser is not acceptable to use when prepping food as it retains and attracts germs. Washing in running water is the only acceptable have cleaning method when handling food. Not touched hand sanitiser since so about 4 bottles here if anyone wsnts!!
Also when my hubby in hospital he was that on vs m 24/7 for 6 weeks so could not wash his hands after using a urine bottle throughout the day. He had a bed bath daily in the morning using a flannel and soap by nurse (I left clean flannel for each day) but he fed himself each meal time without washing hands . Not once in 6 weeks did he have a stomach upset, or sniffles, cough, cold etc.
His bed table wiped each evening as he'd have food/coffee stains on was a disposable cloth and water from tap. As he was immobile fiat on his back visitors held onto grab rail guard and leant over on his face at times else he couldn't see them. They didn't wipe his bed or guard rails just changed the bed clothes . I avoided visiting for 2 days when I had a cold and he didn't catch it off me. You would think he would have been vulnerable to germs being unable to wash his hands after urinating etc. but no.
Also regarding OCD. My daughter has severe, chronic OCD and is really annoyed by people responding to her with "I'm a bit OCD" if they like their ornaments or books in a row as OCD literally rules hers and other suffers lives. The intrusive thoughts dominate their waking hours and the compulsion rituals exhaust them or they avoid them by retreating to a safe place , usually bed. She's not in a panic about the Corona virus as she knows viruses are unavoidable and majority recover from them.
Yesterday I said to her in Tesco loos I could see a woman avoiding washing her hands after using the toilets. She hovered by the sinks but then left without using. My daughter said she may have OCD about using public washbasins and could not force herself to do. I had never thought of this as my daughter a compulsive hand washer i.e she puts clothes on then washes hands , outs shoes on , them washes hands etc. and then she washes taps so they are clean for next person. But now I can see am OCD sufferer may not be able to use public taps as not cleaned by previous person who touched them. It's made me more sympathetic to them as it might not be a choice.
I hope I didn't come across as being offended by people's impression of OCD. I probably didn't convey very well I've been as guilty as next person if not fully understanding how difficult and distressing a condition it is. Until yesterday's convo with my daughter I've been raging at public toilet non hand washers !
