Hi All
I am looking for some advice. I had my 4th and last docetaxol 11 days ago. I spent all day yesterday in hospital covered in a really itchy lumpy rash on my neck;chest, hands and legs. 12 hours later, having had iv antihistamines and antibiotics as my temp spiked at 38.3.Icame home withhugedoses of 2 antihistamines to take. .Today the rash is still as red and raised and myhandsare still swollen but the itch has gone down a notch.
I see the oncologist tomorrow morning. Has anybody else experienced anything similar and can tell me how long this might take to calm down? Any pleasure I felt at finishing chemo has gone out the window as this is the worst Ihave felt.Temp still up as my skin is so hot and red. Chemo line said take paracetamol
Hi ,
I had a similar reaction to Doxetaxol after my first one and unfortunately it never really improved until after I had completed treatment. I really feel for you as it was awful - the worst side effect I had actually!
My GP prescribed a steroid and antibiotic cream which really helped as well as an emollient cream. Once the redness, itching and bumpiness had reduced I found the skin to be super dry and tight so I then used my favourite skin care range - Dermalogica it really helped but I guess any decent moisturiser should help.
I hope your on the mend soon and can start to enjoy the end of Chemo!
Much Love
K xx
