Sorry long post but need to get it out!
Attended hospital in December this year with suspected blood clots which may be due to having full knee replacement surgery in both knees in April and September. A Ct Scan was done and indeed confirmed blood clots, however also showed raised right axillary lymph nodes. Referred back to Breast unit (had mastectomy in 2017 and had chemotherapy ). Biopsy taken and confirmed that ER+ breast cancer had returned. I had another CT scan and informed by Consultant that thankfully the cancer had not spread anywhere else however she could not operate due to the blood clots in my lungs. She said she would consult with anaesthesiology regarding surgery and referred me to oncology for new treatment as obviously Exemestane was not working.
Went to oncology today and oncologist said that he would have to look at new treatment plan as letrozole and Exemestane did not work he then said he would put me on Faslodex until the results of the next Ct Scan to see if the other issues were cancerous or not! I asked him to explain.
He then showed me the report and scans which highlighted lymph nodes in the centre of my chest and also nodes in both lungs which were of concern but said too small to be certain if cancer. He said that a further scan would be done in three months to see if any change which would determine if they were cancerous and if so then I would not have an operation as it would be of no benefit to me as cancer had spread.
He said he would also look at putting me on another tablet which is prescribed for advanced non operable breast cancer I can’t remember name but think it started with poly something! He thought it would help to have this and Faslodex but would have to run the case past the board to see if I could be prescribed it.
This all came as a big shock to me as thought I was just going to see him about changing onto Faslodex which I had researched and had questions for him about increase of blood clots!
Hubby said that I am reading too much into what he said and that the Dr was obliged to give worst case scenario to me. My head Is all over place thinking if this has spread to lungs and further lymph nodes what is ahead for me !
My daughter is due to have my first Grandchild in July now I worry that I won’t see it start school as my own mum died just before my daughter started school.
