Hi all, I’m a newbie I have never been part of anything like this before! I was diagnosed in may last year and my treatment has finished but I’m feeling worse now than I did during it! I can’t stop worrying about everything and I’m very emotional all the time! Side effects of tamoxifen are driving me up the wall!! I keep feeling like a burden and a bit useless to be honest! Any advice? X

    Hi

Welcome to the club no one wants to join :-/

A lot of folks underestimate what effects the lack of oestrogen has to your mental wellbeing after treatment, so you are certainly not alone feeling this way.

I can pass on the link to the article worth reading Puzzler mentions https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/38/7573.After_2D00_the_2D00_treatment_2D00_finishes_2D00_then_2D00_what.pdf it certainly helped us get our head around the post treatment baggage.

  • Hi

the Peter Harvey article is really good

I did a Moving Forward course which I found helpful. There’s also a Hope course which I’m told is good, especially for dealing with anxiety after the end of treatment.  I’ve yet to do that one.

I did find year 2 harder in a way because I then had time to digest everything. I had some good pointers from the MF course though. I still meet up with other women who did the same course. It’s good to be able to chat to others and they know where you’re coming from. This online community is supportive too and a safe area to say how you feel. And of course we get how you’re feeling.
