I am due to see breast cancer surgeon on Friday about my having a mastectomy after I’ve chemo (only got one more cycle to go yippee) problem is my mind has gone totally blank on what questions to ask surgeon, can anyone help thanks x
Hi Sandi,
I've friend requested you. I am under Colchester hospital too on my 2nd round of chemo next week.
I am also preparing a list of questions to ask my surgeon, so would be great if you can share, when you get some. lol
Hope your treatment is going well and gently.
Trish
Hi Trish, got my last chemo next week, I couldn’t fault the nurses at Collingwood, make the whole process a lot easier to deal with. Best of wishes for your treatment x
Hi Sandi
I'd suggest you also have a look at the surgery chat discussion thread as that's got lots of issues faced by those of us who have recently gone through or who are about to go through surgery.
However in terms of question themes these were mine
- how long will I be in hospital, what will be done the day before
- what is the procedure on the day, what time & date will my op be?
- will you have a drain, how does drain work/maintenance/removal
- what do I need to look out for and how will I know if things are amiss
- what equipment do you provide & what will I need to buy (pillows, shoulder bag, softies etc.)
- also may be relevant to ask about surgery options or reconstruction options depending on your situation
- When is pre op assessment/physio/meeting with BCN
- can I see pictures of what others look like post surgery/reconstruction so know what to expect
Good luck
Sam

I’m actually a little scared about chemo ending despite it having made me very poorly over the last few month it’s a security thing knowing it’s killing the cancer, will be odd not going back to Collingwood xx
