Quietly freaking out at home....
I had a left mastectomy and level iI node clearance June 2018.
I am now post active treatment...just hormone tablets and bone juice! My worry is my shoulder. I am quite active and ride frequently but my shoulder feels like I have pulled a muscle. This has now been around for months. I am still active, it doesn’t limit my physical activity but I really do notice the pain at night. I am seeing my oncologist next week and will mention it. I worry that it is secondaries in my shoulder.... not sure how to ally my thoughts...
I am an over thinker! I really wish I wasn’t...but that’s just me!
Not quite what sure to say....just want to dump my thoughts....thank you for being there!
You are good people.....
Hi Galligirl
I 'only' had a lumpectomy (8cm - so a bit of a chunk) and my shoulder ached a bit every now and again. I am pretty convinced that we subconsciously protect a damaged area until our body adapts to the new posture and it is quite probable that this is what is happening that you have just developed a new posture. Like any 'new exercise' you ache initially and as your body adapts as it eases.
Secondaries are unlikely to go to a shoulder as they are most likely to spread to ribs, spine, pelvis and the long bones in your arms and legs.
Hope this puts your mind at rest until you see your oncologist.
Thank you...it does.
Bizarrely since posting it has felt better...
