I am planning on getting my garden back into shape this year as I have time on my hands. Any other gardeners out there ?

  • I think this could turn out to be a great thread TulipSunflowerDeciduous treeHerb

  • Just a thought, keen gardeners all, hubs bought me a wand electric weeder, it’s basically a hand held long wand which delivers high heat fanned from the tip which you can use to zap weeds. It does have a very short lead so I needed an extension; but I tried it on dandelions (-as you all know they have long tap roots) on the gravel drive at the front of the house and it works!!!! I told him I really like electrocuting the weeds

  • It was announced yesterday that our severe water restrictions are being relaxed on 1 March.  That means I will be able to use the hose again so an autumn garden suddenly looks viable.

  • Hi all. Me to can’t wait to get in the garden in the spring, everything looks so drab in the winter we haven’t got many border’s just grass trees and shrubs but it does need a tidy up, at the front there is a Rockery which needs sorting out more tree’s and flagged so not much maintenance needed , so will probably get hanging baskets and fill some tubs can’t wait to get out thereTulipMaple leafBlossom

  • Hi everyone,

Late joining in to the gardening posts, but so pleased to be reminded of the benefits...it keeps me going just hoping to be around to sort things out. I have a stream and lots of birds, but treatment had made me neglect it, and it was sad looking and overgrown. However  last summer was lovely because I watched Chelsea, bought plants, made a small herb garden. walked outside at dawn and felt so lucky because I had time off treatment. This year a bit scared on my own because should be having a check up appointment soon  (2 years since  a double  mastectomy and did have infected lymph nodes so has it spread? )   Either way I will have the garden as my consolation. Can't wait for the Spring. Planning a pergola path and have already ordered the gravel...last summer the project was to buy a garden swing, put it near the stream, sit with a book and a glass of wine. I made it... , but only just.... as it was nearly Autumn when i found a swing.Did manage one glass of wine  so here's to the summer. .  Good luck  to every one and lots of love.

Hi there I’m a novice gardner but I do love being in the garden and I’m planning on making it my go to project this year to help me get over my treatments which ended in Dec 2019 with radiotherapy so just getting myself back in the room so to speak. Treated myself to some soft landscaping and created a border filled with a few new trees Cersis Silisquastrum and Amelanchier sorry if I’ve spelt them wrong :/ I am a novice some hydrangea OA light and a few fruit trees and low growing shrubs . I’m treating myself to some new garden tools but found some heavy to handle at the local garden centre any tips on makes that are lightweight ?

    will enjoy this thread .
