Can anyone give me some positive feedback on having come throught HERS 2 positive breast cancer. I have recently been diagnosed and heard its a aggressive cancer x
Hi gina62
my story on profile .
Im going to tag as I know his wife was diagnosed with HER 2+ So he may have some answers that you are looking for .
I was diagnosed after my masectomy so goods news all cancer removed grade 3 aggressive BUT HER2+ so recurring . My treatment plan was EC chemo x 6 then Herceptin x18 all on three weekly cycle .p,us a bone protection Bisphosphonate infusion every 6 months .
We are all different so your plan could differ .
As far as how I feel about it ... yes it can recur but in a way so can other cancers . At least they now can use these drugs to help prevent it recurring .
My Mammogram showed calcification so no lump but an area of 51 mm clear lymph node so MX and sentinel lymph node .
So I do feel positive ..cancer has gone and I'm receiving preventive treatment .
Do try to deal with whatever comes your way one day at a time and try not to look too far forward .Therefore using your energy on one stage of your plan at a time it does help .
Im sure will one along with some info for you

Hi Gina62
Without rambling on please read my profile. I was diagnosed triple positive (ER PR +, hert2 +++). I am still undergoing chemotherapy and awaiting a mastectomy. I agree with Northerner, there are preventative treatments, just ensure you take one day at a time. Everyone's treatment plan is individualized, it is a rollercoaster and a long journey but try to remain positive. Support on here is amazing and I am sure Dreamthief will be along with further info soon.

Hi gina62
Just noticed the 'tag' - We were out last night, so sorry for the late reply.
Yes, J was diagnosed with Triple Positive BC (HER2 ER/PR positive) way back in May 2012 - So 8 years ago now.
The treatment for this is even better these days with Perjeta usually being included with the Herceptin plus the chemo regime is a game changer for this which was once classed as one of the more aggressive types of BC to get for recurrence.
Don't let that comment worry you, as the newer targeted biological therapies were trialed specifically for this type to greatly reduce the risk of recurrence happening.
The multitude of treatments for HER2+ are long drawn out and its more like entering a Heptathlon rather than a 10K race but it works and J living the new normal now.
I won't lie, you will feel you will have everything including the kitchen sink thrown at this, and will have a few duvet days - However this is do'able just don't take your eyes off the prize
Hugs, G n' J
