Hi everyone! First post and maybe inappropriate, not sure but getting desparate. Constipation - anyone have any tips?
I also have IBS so have problems balancing. Have had 3 EC cycles and 1 Docetaxel, would it help if I fasted the day before maybe?
Thanks in advance.
Good morning Kemma43,
Your best bet is to ask your nurse or phone the helpline number they should have given you.Unfortunately, toilet troubles whilst on chemo is very common..all i would say is keep hydrated...drink plenty of water! Hope you get some relief soon.
Sorry you are having to go through this tough time.It does get better...hold onto that thought!
Hi
Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join :-/
Chemo can cause many issues with speeding up or slowing down the digestive system and having IBS wouldn't help but as Julus & Bourneagain says do let your onco unit or breast care nurse know about this - It is a common side effect and help is available.
You can buy over the counter remedies but NHS meds are probably better and with your 5 year cancer prescription exemption card 'free'
You may not have stumbled across it as yet but there is a dedicated monthly BC Chemo discussion here. You can find it and get chatting clicking this link February Chemo Club.
How are you finding the Docetaxel after the EC ?
Hope this is of some help, take care, G n' J
Hello i am not constipated but have problems with IBS since started chemo.I bought this tablets for IBS but didnt help.So one day before chemo I usually eat very little and my last meal will be around 4 pm.I got so annoyed when I am having chemo to go to the toilett.I rather to fast a little bit.
Good luck
Thanks for replying G n' J.
First D last Monday, not good! Weird smells, no sleep and generally shot! Worse than EC! Taste going today, what next I wonder!
I have laxidol but wary of taking because of IBS, one extreme to the other. This is all a roller coaster - you don't know what is coming next!
Thanks for the advice
