Lymph node involvement

Hello

I'm needing support as I have breast cancer in my lymph nodes. I'm her2 positive and have already started neoadjuvant chemotherapy. My tumour has shrank after 1 treatment. I have had a conversation with my breast nurse who was so negative about my lymph nodes being involved and its sent me into a spiral of fear. She had that look on her face. I just fear the worst now.

    Dear Julie

i was grade 3, her2 +ve, er +ve, macro metastases in 3 lymph nodes (means large enough to be seen by naked eye) and I have had a mastectomy with a recent delayed reconstruction, Chemo, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy and bone precautionary therapy and I am 3 years on at the end of February. I am back at work, play tennis, swim every week and am generally very well. Don’t panic, lots of us have affected lymph nodes and the treatment is effective and superb. Live life to the full (Chemo allowing which is yuk at the moment for you) and you will get there, outcomes are good. Good luck with all your treatment, there is life afterwards xx

  • Hi another one three years on and doing well. I had large grade three lump plus two nodes. One was an interpectoral node and was 8mm. I've also had all treatment listed in my profile but so far so good. Hope it helps a bit good luck to you xxx

  • Thank you for your response,  I just feel that I have a death sentence as it's in my nodes , I'm so frightened

  • I can understand how scared you might feel...I had a huge tumour that had spread within the breast and was in all of my lymph nodes. I was well and truly freaked out! But I’ve now been out of active treatment for over a year....I’m doing well.

The lymph nodes are there to do a job....as my surgeon said....let’s hope they have done it! And prevented the spread any further. It is hard but I have got to think that my nodes were super effective!

    Good Luck....
