Gel nails vs risk of lymphodema

Hi all, pretty superficial question sorry, does anyone know if it’s ok to get gel nails done after mastectomy with full node clearance and radiotherapy? Understandably will need to be careful to avoid any nicks from filing but my nail technician is an absolute pro but also unsure of affects of uv lamp. Have been feeling pretty down so was hoping if I could get my nails done again it may give me a lift.
thanks in advance

hugs to you all xx

    Hi

Not sure if gel nails are advisable but in my local area we have a centre were cancer patients recieve 6 beauty treatments,  free of charge. Gel nails are an option along with many more .  However I was advised that these treatments may be best to have after treatment.

Have you had an appointment with your oncologist yet ?  If you have maybe ask them if you can have this"  pick me up "treatment or ask your bc nurse !

  • Thanks , not had any of my follow up appointments yet, they keep getting cancelled and pushed back so not seeing surgeon or oncologist till mid and end March.

Im signed up for a Macmillan feel good, look great session on 17 March and doing the Hope course in June which both sound really good.

Take care my lovely, huge hugs x

My breast cancer care book on reducing the risk of lymphoedema say there's no evidence that manicures are a risk .
