Hi I was diagnosed with high grade DCIS and 2mm invasive had mx no chemo just anastrozole but have had diarrhea and bad stomach pain hospital have said it could be a virus because it's not a common side effect I already have bad arthritis so don't know if I will cope long term with them still waiting for HER 2 results thinking of checking on NHS website what my percentage results will be without them has anyone else been in the same position they did not have my PR result from pathology thanks Mary
Hi Mary /
Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join :-/
Perhaps this is down to a tummy bug.... I can't recall any messages here mentioning that as a side effect of Anastrozole (link) it certainly isn't listed as a side effect on the mac info page; but there may be another member here who has found this ?
If you are thinking about using the NHS Predict website do wait until all your results are in, including ER/PR and HER2 as this info is required when filling in the tick boxes.
Have you a date for getting your results through ?
Hugs, G n' J
Thanks for replying it is listed as a side effect in the tablet information think it will be a few weeks until I get the results pathology thought the sample was too small did not send it off until I asked about it last week
Hi , another warm welcome to this not so exclusive club! I’m on Anastrozole too and like you’ve said, diarrhoea is listed as a ‘common’ side effect so it could well be that ‘nasty tab’ as I call mine. How do you take it? At the start I was so worried about all the possible side effects, and re nausea and diarrhoea, I thought maybe taking it with food might help. So I took it in the morning with my breakfast and a big glass of water. Could be worth trying that to see if it makes a difference, unless of course you do already! Nowadays I just take it when I wake up, with a mug of water but no food. Re arthritis, I do get some pains in my feet and wrist but not that bad.
Wishing you well, hope you get the rest of the results soon, it’s so horrible playing the waiting game. Gentle hugs, HFxx
Thanks for replying took in the morning but have been told it's better to take it in the evening you have less side effects and to take it after eating food it's worth trying
