Hi.

i wonder if anyone can help please? I was diagnosed with breast Cancer in May 2018, completed chemo & rads Dec 19. My hair 15 months later is still very very fine and thin!!! I used to have thick hair! My daughter is getting married in August so I really want some thickness or covering at least! I’ve seen a Trichologists who has advised laser treatment weekly for 6 months at a cost of £1500! I’ve looked on line and Amazon sell a device that seems to do the same job. I wondered if anyone else has had this problem and what they did? I’m really desperate now after being bald for 20 months!!! And want to look better on the wedding photos! Please help! Xx

Hi Lisnic welcome to the forum and so glad to hear that at least all the treatment is past for you.

I dont know enough about the question that you are asking or the solutions that have been suggested but I do wonder if you might like to give the Macmillan Line a call and speak to one of the Specialist Advisors there and they may or may not be able to answer any queries that you may have.  08088080000.

    Best wishes meantime. x

  • Can I ask if you had Docetaxel, as it can affect future hair growth.  Some people find taking supplements like Biotin (a B vitamin), vitamin A, D, Zinc etc can help.  Castor oil has helped my eyebrows and lashes so far, and shine people use it on their head overnight.  Fingers crossed that it starts to thicken soon.  Xx

  • Hi

i finished treatment this time last year. (FEcT) The hair was really slow to come through....I used grow gorgeous products to begin with. They aren’t cheap ...but I reckoned I hadn’t had a hair cut in over 6 months! I used scalp mask and shampoo and conditioner to start with....then just continued with shampoo. link below

I have no idea if it had any impact but my hair has recovered....although it is very curly...mmm which I guess I can get used to!

    Good luck....

    Hi

I did have Docetaxel for the last 3 rounds.

I’ve actually brought some Biotin today so hopefully it will help.  I read last night about castor oil so will try that too.

    Thankyou for your help!
    Best wishes xx

  • Hi Lisnic,

I had 8 rounds of chemo and then radio, managed to keep my hair albeit thin. Treatment finished end of Nov 2019. I have started using Manes & Tales shampoo which I ordered online and its really helping my hair. Just a thought for you! Wish you all the best.
