I was diagnosed in October 2019 with the above in the left but chose to go with the Loris trial but was unfortunately not accepted due to the strict criteria, so everything has been delayed. I then was referred to another hospital, and  told I had to have a lumpectomy and radiotherapy in the left but now something has now been picked up on the right even though I received a Benign result a year and half ago. I will now receive the results on Tuesday even though I was told I won’t get the results for at least 2 weeks, it has been under a week. Which is good because I get the results sooner but now I am worried as to why so soon! Has anyone else gone through the above. This has been such an ordeal not only for me but my family.

    Hi

Sorry to read you were messed about re the Loris trial :-/

I wouldn't read too much into this - Probably something as simple as the lab wasn't so busy the results came though faster.

Fingers crossed they make good reading, G n' J

Many thanks. I hope too but it doesn’t stop the worrying. I am trying to stay positive as I know there are a lot worse of than me. It sounds like you have also gone through a traumatic time. How do you get over this?

    Hi

No doubt the long drawn out period prior to starting any kind of treatment is adding to your angst. Most here will confirm finding it emotionally tough with the normal 3 - 4 week wait, so no wonder you are on edge :-/

How do you get over this ? One step and/or one day at a time until you get your results and a treatment plan. Then you will have something to focus on - try not to read to much on things that may well no apply to you, or rely on outdated and worryingly misleading Dr Google.

J's treatment regime was long drawn out but that was way back in 2012 and we are living the 'new normal'   This is treatable and with a very high recovery rate, contrary to what you see and read in the media.

Good luck for Tuesday, no long now....  Do take someone with you as 4 ears are better than two and for the most part your concentration will be elsewhere.

    Hugs, G n' J

Many thanks. It is so good to talk to someone. I am really scared, but normally a positive person but this has really got to me! In a strange way I can’t wait for Tuesday and then I will know the way forward hopefully as along as there are no more delays!

Hi, many thanks for your kind words. Just received the results, better than expected but double lumpectomy in left and right. Cancer in left but uncertainty in right so they are going to operate on both to be on the safe side. Now to wait for a date.

    Hi

Must have eased your concerns nothing dramatic has happened since October and good they are sorting 'righty' out at the same time.

Better to get the tissue from that side looked at in the pathology lab at the same time - some people worry can about symmetry when having surgery to just the one side.

Depending on the surgeons/theatre schedule your appointment could come through quite quickly. J was supposed to have a 2 week wait but a theatre slot became free and she went in only 8 days after her biopsy results.

If you have any pre or post surgery questions you can ask these by replying to any of the messages in the Surgery Chat discussion here.

    Hugs, G n' J
