    Hi Gina

This time 2 years ago I was waiting for biopsy result, my appt was 31 Jan.  I was very anxious and the news was not what I wanted to hear.

However, as soon as I had the confirmation the consultant was very reassuring about what could be done, and that it was TREATABLE. The breast care nurse was great and again reiterated it was treatable.

Before I knew it the wheels were in motion, they were on it and everything happened quickly and successfully. 2 years on its almost like it never happened.

I hope the rest of today goes OK and you get some sleep tonight. Try and keep occupied and busy and be kind to yourself.

Have you got someone to go with you tomorrow? Keep us posted.

  • Thank you it's nice to hear good news. I feel really upset as I was told after the mammogram and scan that it's cancer before biopsy results so been worried all week feel like I am in limbo x

gina62,  I was the same last week and know how frightened you are. I had my results Tuesday of last week and have since had more tests. I am booked in for surgery (lumpectomy) 6th feb and everybody seems very reassuring. Hope you get good news tomorrow and try to get some sleep or at least rest today. Sending you love x

  • Hi Maria did they also tell you at the mammogram and scan before you got your biopsy results. It is a frightening time for us all. Hope you are OK also. x

gina62, I went to see if I could get HRT for menopausal hot flushes, aches etc and was sent for a breast ultrasound along with smear and bloods before the doctor would prescribe anything. I have had no breast symptoms at all so thought nothing of it. Next thing is they find a mass, I’m whisked away for an MRI and given results 10 mins later ( I am an ex pat and live in Turkey and treatment is private so not sure of the procedure in UK) at this point I was told not to worry as 4/5 lumps are benign and no lump could be felt but was booked in for biopsy the following day..I tried not to think about it too much until I collected my results 6 days later and was then told I have Invasive Ductal carcinoma so a complete shock. It is very scary, I hope you will be ok tomorrow and at least it has been found and treatment can now begin. It’s very overwhelming but trying to stay positive and keeping busy x

  • Hi Marie I suffer with cysts and have already had 2 breast lumps removed one at 28 and one had 49 so  I have regular mammograms as cancer is in the family. I only had a mammogram 1 9mths ago is was absolutely clear. I found a lump I am now 57  so went straight to doctor they referred me to breast unit as this lump is hard etc I was told at the mammogram and scan that it's cancer like you I am in shock though I had the feeling it was different x

gina62, I also had a routine mammogram 19 months ago which showed a small cyst, mammograms are done 2 yearly here after the age of 40..I am 50 now. I have no history of breast cancer in my family so it’s all a complete shock. Wishing you well for tomorrow, you found a lump and went straightaway, as you say it was 19 months since your last mammogram which was clear so stay positive x

  • It's every 3 years here I think that's far too long as mine appear under 2 years of the last mammogram thought mammograms pick up up to 2 years before cancer, they told me it's just one of those things x

  • Hi

i was told at my mammogram/ultrasound biopsy appointment that it was cancer and that when I went back I would be going for my treatment plan. I went on my own for that initial appointment and didn’t expect to be told, it was 8:30 on a Monday morning, I rang my husband and told him then went to work,  it was such a shock. When you go back you should get told the biopsy results - there are many different types of breast cancer and your treat plan will depend on those results.

    Best wishes

    Jo x

  • Thank you I thought they shouldn't really say until biopsy results were confirmed. Hope you are OK x
