I noticed three days ago that my hair was starting to fall out, which I was ok about the thought of loosing my hair. But today I washed my hair and OMG it was coming out in clumps. I'd already had my long hair cut short which helped me feel like I was in control. I'm a little traumatized at how much fell out just washing it. This Cancer thing has all of a sudden become real. Up until now its felt a bit like it was happening to someone else.
How long from the hair loss starting does it take until it's all gone. I think I'd rather it was gone now. I'm still ok about it going. Its lumps of hair coming out that is freaking me out.
Hi
I tried the cold cap twice however just after second treatment (3 FEC 3 Docetaxol) mine started to go so didn’t try again. Felt it was worth it though because you never know and other ladies on here have had good results. It was mainly shedding as opposed to clumps falling out. Was devastating not going to lie but once it was gone it felt better if that makes sense rather than it waiting to happen. Mine started to grow again just before last treatment. It’s came back thicker and better than before so pleased about that. Stopped wearing wig about a month ago (chemo finished end of February)
Good luck with your treatment xx
Hi , sorry you've started with losing your hair xxx about 3 pages back there is a thread called chemo and hair loss which had lots of advice on that I found helpfull. Mine started to fall out the day before my second cycle, mostly around the crown, I cut the rest to about 1/2 inch because I thought it looked worse with bald ppatches. I've still got probably 70% hair around bottom (like a monk) but I've abandoned the cold cap so I expect more will go soon. Seems everyone has different experience with how fast the hair goes. I also found it really sore as well which I wasnt expecting. Definitely a real low point for me but i try to see it as a sign it's working and trying to look forward to some new hairstyles I never would have tried if it wasn't for this. Treated myself to some new lipstick as well! Take care xxxx
Hi
Everyone different so can’t say when your hair go or come back . Mine should have gone in days but hung on for 3/4 cycles then stopped so then started a short burst of growth in cycle 5/6 . So hairdresser then did no 2 shave so a shape to grow back . So if I was you and not bothered I would Just go for it take control ! Ask hairdresser to cut short then dont handle . Use a bamboo beanie overnight so you don’t get covered in hair . Then hats or wig thru day cos it cold

My hair started to fall out about 2 days before my second EC and was completely gone within a week. Like you I thought I was ok with it. I had it cut short before I started chemo but was gutted when I was at the stage you are at now. However once most of it had gone I went to my hairdresser and had what was left shaved off (No1). It felt so much better and I felt I was in control of it. I wear a beany most of the time, my wig on special occasions and have now got to the point where I am quite happy at home to go completely bald. And I think it might be trying to return after 3 lots of FEC!!!! I certainly have a fuzzy scalp now!!!!
