Morning everyone, not posted on here for a long time but I’m in need of your support again.
Finished treatment in February this year. Had lumpectomy, chemo, rads. No evidence of disease.
Started having pain in my lower ribs on the lumpectomy side. Can’t really tell if it’s muscle pain or bone pain. My back had been aching after lots of bending over, present wrapping! Hurts more when lifting and exerting myself. Can’t feel it at night and not so terrible I need to take painkillers. Just a worrying niggle.
Plucked up courage to visit GP yesterday. He thinks it’s probably strained muscle but sent me for x-ray to put my mind at rest! I’m really stressing now it could be mets. I’m on Letrozole so could also be that?
Mind is in overdrive again. Has anyone else had something similar?
Lots of love xx
Hi
This post may put your mind at rest. I suspect your doctor is being over cautious because of you having had cancer, but you can see from this there's lots of us with similar.
Radiotherapy keeps on working long after it's been given - so there are 2 things with this -(1) we get the side effects long after, but (2) it's probably still working! You've had the cancer cut out, you're on Letrozole, you've had chemo and you've had radiotherapy. The 'kitchen sink' has been thrown /still is being thrown at you with the tablets.
I hope this eases your worries and it shows you've got a good doctor who will respond to your concerns.
Best wishes,
Thanks lesleyhelen that post was helpful. I’m obviously not alone!
Lots of love
Hi Karen,
After radiotherapy, I had pains around my right hip. I saw the GP who arranged for an x-ray and when it showed no problems with the bones, he recommended physio.
I decided to use a private physio to avoid the wait and I’m really glad that I found a great one. She quickly found the damage (embarrassingly in my glute), got to work and showed me exercises to strengthen my core muscles (as she thought that the muscle strain was due to me overcompensating for my weaker back). She said that the symptoms I had of stiffness and pain when I started moving after are common muscular pains.
Take care,
Sarah
