i received a gorgeous gift the other day from my friend and it was a mastectomy pillow. Included was a leaflet explaining that this was a free gift.

You can request one for yourself or a friend.

there was a lovely leaflet explaining why these lovely ladies do this and a beautiful tag wishing me a speedy recovery. The product is gorgeous, beautifully made.

Wanted to share. Hope you are all doing well.

  • These heart shape pillows are brilliant ladies 'I'm lucky in our hospital you get them as a gift from macmillan volunteers when you are diagnosed surgery along with shoulder carrier for drain .All very feminine and pretty .They also give you an oblong one for chemo if you on treatment .

Had my masectomy July still use pillow in car for longer journeys (passenger)

Worthwhile from what I've read to google free stuff for cancer different sites offering all sorts of packs . I only found out after I was in treatment things  happening too fast only 8 days from diagnosis to surgery . Includes things like chemo care pack and free short breaks

  • I'm not based in the UK but I was also gifted a heart shaped pillow which came with a special bag for the drains. I can honestly say that if I had to pay €100 for the heart shaped pillow, it would have been worth every cent. I had a right side masectomy with silicone implant. The pillow helped me more than anything else did to get comfortable, in the car, on the sofa, in bed. I am 5 weeks post surgery and I still use it. I love it and recommend anyone undergoing surgery to get one.

  • I couldn't sleep first night after lumpectomy and sentinel nodes removed phoned breast care nurse for advice and she asked if I had been given my heart shaped pillow, apparently at my hospital you get given them at mammogram department, I hadn't had one so she arranged for them to be left at day surgery unit so relative could go and choose one from the lovely box of all different designs, 2nd night post op 6 hours sleep, early breakfast and now I am tucked up with my v cushion and heart shaped cushion ready for another nap

  • Hi Sunflame, I hope your surgery has gone well.

I’m based in Ireland and in a few weeks time, I’ll be undergoing a mastectomy etc. Do you know where your pillow was sourced from?
