Hello, I was treated for Cervical Cancer last year and was told two weeks ago that I don't have any traces in my body which is fantastic news.
They did a CT Scan with dye in my Pelvis, Stomach and Chest. My question is: as my chest is clear does that mean I don't need to have a Mammogram or are they two separate things?
Hi Medway9
Yes do keep up with any mammogram appointments as cervical and breast cancers are different. There is (via the brca gene) links to ovarian and breast but not so much with cervical - So are regarded as two separate things... Chances are during the chest area of your ct scan they were more interested to see if your lungs were 'clear' than a carrying out a full breast examination.
Great news on the NED (no evidence of disease) from your previous cervical treatments, but seeing as this was fairly recent; how are you feeling now about all you have been through ? Baggage free (doubtful)
Take care, G n' J
