I have recently had a full hysterectomy. I take tamoxifen, has anyone been advised to change this to something like letrozol as you will be menopausal?
Hi
Know it was probably quite a while back but could you contact whoever put you onto Tamoxifen in the first place ? As they would be the best person to ask about this ?
You are right about post menopause going onto one of the aromatase inhibitors like Letrozole, Anastrozole of Exemestane but I'm unsure if there is a cut off time period between having your ovaries removed (full hysto?) before changing, or if you could change now.
If you do get the OK to change do ask about having a bone density Dexa Scan before starting to get a base level figure for your bone strength as the AI's can over time cause bone thinning which can lead to osteopeania if not countered with calcium based meds.
Hope this is of some help, G n' J
