Well 7 months after chemo finished I have my first hair appointment tomorrow. Hoping to not have too much cut as it’s taken this long to grow it!! I am booked to get a colour done as well so just wanted to check that you usually have to wait at least 6 months after chemo. Sure I’ve seen this on another post on this site.

Hi @Mrs50
I am sure you will be fine . I actually didn’t loose ALL my hair but it was very thin , I got the fluff trimmed every 3 weeks , I still have done up to about 3 months ago ( year after end of treatment now I have a very good head of hair and get it trimmed every 5 weeks . Being a lady ( I use that loosely ) in my 60s I have left it natural , every hairdresser admiring my new natural colour as being very en vogue . But I still would like it coloured but just staying natural , as it’s in excellent condition.
your hairdresser will keep you right I’m sure .
you’ll look fab I’m sure , enjoy the pamper x
love

Hello Mrs50,
I used the cold cap, but I lost the top section of my hair. It started growing back just before my fifth chemo. I must admit that I had it coloured theee months after the final chemo treatment because the hair that remained had grey roots of over an inch and it was fine. I did talk to my hairdresser before and she’d had lots of experience of colouring hair after chemo. I wonder whether you can pop in for a consultation and patch test before your appointment?
Best wishes,
Sarah
Hi Mrs50,
I was wondering how you were getting on. We finished rads at the same time, along with The script fan.
I haven’t had my hair cut yet, it started growing about end of June, I had a skinhead look by the end of July and now it’s a curly mess, still v short but I think it could do with a little trim. I also want to colour it. I finished chemo end of April so it’s been six months.
Hi yeah we did. I’m still on here regularly but just don’t post much. This site was such a massive support to me during my illness that I like to see how everyone is doing. Yeah braved the hairdressers last week but she only took off minimal amount and coloured it. It was nearly 8 months since my chemo finished. Was really pleased with it as it came in quite grey although have to confess still wearing my wig when I’m out as it’s still quite short. It feels so good to feel it blowing in the wind. It’s the simple things now eh?.
Hope all is well with you and your recovery is going well.
