Hi all,
Has anyone been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in the bones and if so, what was it that made you get checked out? What symptoms etc.
Ive some some issues that I am putting down to old age, tamoxifen, menopause and possibly arthritis due to aforementioned age/menopause, meds etc and not been bothered by in the context of it possibly being secondaries but after mentioning how much of an old crock I feel in passing to a friend recently, they suggested rather sternly that I get the issues checked out but I’m not sure it worth following up.
would be useful to have some facts from those who have experienced secondaries before I go wasting anyone’s time!
thanks in advance
Much love
dear
i think the worry about recurrence / secondary will never go away . I think the secret is to get any problem that worries you , checked asap.
I had a very painful hip and worried about secondaries , I first seen GP who checked me and said it wasn’t bone pain BUT wouldn’t send me for an X-ray !!! I had a planned meeting with my oncologist who said she wasn’t worried but as I was , she sent me for a CT scan . All clear .
i went back to a different GP who also examined me - as the pain was worse . Turns out my muscles were very tight possibly due to chemo . I got exercises to do and all settling but I was warned it would take time .
So you see I had worried and if I had put off seeing someone then my muscles would have got tighter and the pain worse.
it’s all very well me saying get it checked but I think you know in your heart of hearts that you must .
we just want a break but go to your GP and explain everything- right down the timescale etc .
hopefully all will be well
love

Ah thank you for your message Ruby Rose, I must admit I’ve not really been that worried about the issues other than they inconvenient but once I‘d been told off for my complacency and not following up I thought perhaps one ought to see what others have done. I’m a bit rubbish at comprehending the potential seriousness of things!
I shall make an appointment and see what happens. I am pleased your symptoms were nothing sinister and I hope the aches and pains subside. I do lots of exercise and swimming and that helps to keep joint pain away and keep me strong. Xxxx
OMG Joanne you poor thing! How awful! I hope you are as well as can be given everything. Sending lots of healing vibes and hugs
