Hi

Sorry if I’m in the wrong group. I couldn’t find any forums for pre diagnosis. I’m 37, have just had the all clear for uterine cancer after having various problems and procedures. Yesterday my partner found a lump in my breast. I just thought it was muscle but he panicked (he does the boob checks), he never panics and insisted I went to the doctor today. Still not worried and feeling silly I went. Doctor felt it and prescribed antibiotics incase of infection, but said that the redness on my breast is unusual and referred me to the breast clinic. So of course I did some googling when I got home and now I’m worried. I don’t worry normally. Wasn’t worried about having cancer when I had all my womb problems even though it was a possibility. It’s a hard long bumpy lump on the side of my breast towards my armpit. Trying not to worry as I have a 4 yr old and a 9 year old. Not sure why I’m posting. I’m not telling anyone about it so guess I just need to vent anonymously. Never wished for an infection before...

  • Hello Syh,

You're not in the wrong place although hopefully you won't  stay long. You must however keep your appointments at the Breast clinic because if the lump is a tumour, early treatment has a high success rate.

You have discovered why googling is not a good idea in the beginning. It's quite scary but also out of date. Once you've had your check over and in the event it's necessary, as well as asking questions here, Macmillan has some good factual pages as do the NHS site and breast cancer care.

I hope all goes well for you and that you do have the infection your GP anticipated . As you say trying not to worry can be practically impossible and unfortunately there is often a wait for results and information in these early days but there is usually someone on here with whom you can share your fears. No one minds if you rant or cry or calmly ask your questions.

    Cyber hugs for tonight.

    Love Karen

    Morning

Welcome aboard, lets hope for a quick pit stop and not anything more serious....

Even if the antibiotics reduce the redness do still keep your breast clinic appointment. If you don't and still get breast issues at some time you will always wish you had this checked out by experts now, rather than having all the 'what if' worries.

There are quite a few benign breast conditions so even with lumpy bits this may have another cause.

Have you an appointment date yet or still waiting for the referral letter ?

    Fingers crossed, G n' J

Still waiting. Will give the clinic a call tomorrow just to check they got my referral. I know I will be seen within 2 weeks. Have stopped worrying so much now but I can’t stop feeling it - so it’s sore

hope you will get good news soon.  this can't be ignored and the waiting will be horrendous for you, but you need to know what is teh cause of it all.

    Good luck xxx

  • Hi syh82,

i hope that you get good news and it’s nothing to worry about even though your brain goes into over drive.

I have let out my feelings on here too and everyone has been amazing and really supportive because they care and understand what you are feeling.

    Wishing you positive news!

    Love Netty xxxx

    Hi ,

Wishing you good luck and that it isn’t serious, however no matter the outcome, someone will be here to listen.

Best to have it checked out, the good news is something is being done about it, better to have it looked at.

Wishing you all the best x

Just received my referral appointment after exactly 2 weeks.

    Keeping busy is key.

The lump i found is sore at times too, especially of lying on that side at night.

Hopefully that is a good sign as i have been told there is usually no pain if cancer??

    Good luck.

    Morning

Welcome to the Mac Community, but sorry you felt the need to find us.

Do click the 'Join This Group' button under the groups title, that way you can start a discussion if you need a specific question answered or want info.

Fingers crossed this something benign but even benign lumps can carry on growing so surgery may still be needed. Some lumps can cause pain others don't it depends on if, whatever this is in an area affecting nearby nerves or pain receptors.

Keeping busy to try and take your mind off it is definitely the key else any free brain time will bring out the 'what if' worries.  Is you appt soon and is it a unit where you get results the same day or have you another wait to get through for the results ?

Have you had your appt confirmed yet ?

Good luck to you both, G n' J

    Morning

There are a few 'one stop shops' for screening located across the country where you get results on the day, but most keep you waiting around 7-10 days for the results :-/

They may give you some info at the ultrasound stage and you may even be able to see the U/S screen yourself. You get hints or pick up on things that are mentioned but this still doesn't confirm any findings - it is the biopsy tissue results you have to go by.

    Good luck for Thursday, G n' J
