Recurrence after 4 years??

Hi all, 4 years on from my original diagnosis I now have an area of swelling on my affected side in the muscle that remains after my mastectomy (with no reconstruction), starting just under the clavicle. The skin itself looks unchanged.

I have lymphodoema, including in my chest, and had hoped it would be put down to that. I showed my breast/lymphoedema nurse; it's not the lymphoedema, but she's not sure what it is and wants me seen back at the breast center for ultrasound. So now I m back in the waiting game for an appointment to come through.

I m basically posting to ask if anyone has had anything similar? Any replies of good or not so good outcomes gratefully received!

Thanks, Lucy

  • Sorry, I don’t have any experience of similar, Lucy. Just wanted to wish you well for your appointment. It’s such a worry, every lump and bump. Sending a hug Hugging

    Hi Lucy

Thirteen years between original an this diagnosis.

Grounding day, everything the same except the boob affected.

Full node clearance last time and lumpectomy. This time lumpectomy and sentinnal nodes.

    Radiotherapy starts next week.

God I wish they'd sort this spell check Dr.

  • Hello

I to can't help, I just wanted to let you know we are here for you and as you will know from first time around for most of us.... the waiting is the worst part.

Keep an open mind if you can, it is no good worrying at this moment, it could be many different things.... a cyst, a fatty lump, a collection of fluid brought on by an infection in another part of the body, I believe even a cold can do this, plus, I still wouldn't rule out the lymphoedema.   We always have the return of 'c' in the backs of our mind and you will be the same, the main thing now is you are getting this looked at and it can be taken from there.

I hope others pop along soon that have been in a similar situation.

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
