Hi all,
About 3 weeks ago my upper body started to ache constantly and I'd often get shooting pains up both my arms (from elbow to shoulder) followed by complete lack of muscle strength in the upper body and a feeling of exhaustion and shortness of breath (like I'd been running). The pain usually followed an activity like getting out of bed or a chair, picking up the phone or a cuppa and sometimes something more trivial like sneezing or taking a deep breath. I told my consultant and after a few strength tests she said I may have myositis and she may schedule a full body scan to confirm if it persists. I looked it up on the NHS website which states myositis is a rare muscle condition. Considering everything my body has been through, I'm hoping it's temporary.
I wondered if anyone else has this and if they can give me a few pointers as to how I can manage it.
Thanks in advance x
Morning Frankie /
IF this is Myositis there is more info about this and a booklet you can download here at Versus Arthritis.
Fingers crossed this is short term blip, G n' J
Thank you the information
I'm seeing my consultant this morning so I'll find out if I need a scan or not. Part of me wishes that she'll send me for one anyway so it can be ruled out but apparently it's not always easy to diagnose. She did say 2 weeks ago that she's ordered an additional blood test, which I did this morning, so maybe that will show up something? I'm not sure but I'll update later
