Hi everyone,
I’m new to this site and am looking for some advise please. Ive just finished 4 cycles of EC Chemo (for BC) and its been rough! I’m now about to move onto 4 cycles of Docetaxel Chemo.
What is Docetaxel like, it is better or worse (side effects wise) than EC chemo? I’ve had such a horrid few months with EC and just got used to my almost daily differing side effects and now I’m swapping! Am not sure what to expect in the next 3 months yet.... I’m nervous!
thank you for any words you can offer.
Hello
First can i welcome you to the breast cancer group, although i am very sorry you find yourself here, were a friendly bunch so ask questions, rant, shout and even have a laugh.
I didn't feel as poorly with docetaxel but it hammered my immune system and i was admitted into hospital with an infection, doesn't mean you will everyones different. I didn't feel sick at all with it but my taste buds gave in and nothing tasted right.
But mostly i would say keep an eye on your temperature, keep away from poorly people and if anyone even has a sniffle don't let them visit. Keep hand sanitizer handy and ask people to use it. Also i did feel more tired but not sure if that was the docetaxel or because i had been having treatment for a while.
Look at it as you're half way there and every one you have takes you closer to the end of it all.
Good Luck xx
Sorry you've had a rough time on EC
Sure someone will be along shortly who can advise you on Docetaxel . my original plan was for EC and Docetaxel but as soon as Onco found out I had a IBD ( bowel probs) she changed plan removing Doc. I presume it can cause tummy issues . But everyone is different and you could be better than when onEC .
Might be morning before you get answer but take time to check out other threads you may find a earlier discussion . Also the Awake thread is there most of the night if you can't sleep .
Take a look at September chemo thread
Take care
Margaret x
