I need a rant. I'm not concerned about anyone reading or liking this thread. It would be nice to know I'm not the only one but .... whatever.

We look after our 18 month granddaughter two days a week. She came after tea, bathed, fed etc so she went to bed .at 10.00 we went to bed. I " check" her. Actually I usually just stand and watch her sleep. She's so gorgeous, they all are asleep. Then I realised she was asleep in a pool of vomit. On the carpet, in the cot, on her grow bag everywhere. So we cleaned her up, lots of detox, put her back to bed. She wasn't impressed with food for two days but happy enough.

Friday night my stomach was not happy. Neither was hubbies. I threw up had the runs, fine by Saturday lunchtime. Hubby, being a true Yorkshire parted with nothing. Come Sunday he was still feeling far too fragile to pick up the microwave Wed ordered.

I kid you not it was pathetic. I'm so illl, I don't have reserves like you.( meaning I'm fat) I ache and my tummy keeps rumbling.

I ask you how would he cope. Surgery, a life threatening diagnosis possibly, drugs that make every step an ordeal. Future treatment that can have major side affects.

But he has a dodge tummy and I should be more sympathetic. He was surprised I was a bit impatient with him.

Don't get me wrong he normally is very good, excellent cook, cleaner and nurse, but today ......

  • Other than to say.......

Hope you feel better soon xxxxxxx

    Hey

I *was* gonna have my own little mini-rant about how other people don't understand the emotions running thru our heads.

But I can't say anything better than  has posted

I wish you the very best with your journey!

  • Hope you all feel better soon

  • Poor Dreamthief......you are outnumbered on this thread and your post will certainly put the ' cat among the pigeons ' for a fiery day of discussion.

In defence of some men.....I don't have one of the above. Insulin dependent diabetic for nearly 40 years, he never makes a fuss. His treatment has changed with technology and he now has a pump and blood test sensor which means less injecting and skin pricking but over the years he's never complained. Sometimes I have seen him wince with pain when the needle hits outside of muscle but he never makes a sound. It is me who makes him tell the doctor if I think he has something that won't go on it's own. I have told all my friends.....if he ever complains about a pain, act quickly because he must feel ill!

Don't  get me wrong....he isn't the perfect man. He struggles to cook and he could be tidier but he is very practical so we sort of unofficially agreed to share....he does shelves, I do dinner!

I know plenty men like those in the rant. I don't  disagree lots have no understanding about illness. Lots are hypochondriac with a capital H but I felt I must defend the few who aren't........I suspect Dreamthief , because of all the care and concern for J you have shared with us over the years, you would join my husband's group......

Have a nice day. Sun is out. I'm off to market.

    Love Karen

I needed a rant. So I ranted. And the reason I needed to rant on here was because for 98% of the time he does great..

I think I said, great cook, great at cleaning, washing ,shopping and nursing. Having had two lots of surgery on my feet he's had enough practise. He made me breakfast in bed for 3 months. Last time I had BC I got an infection. He learnt how to unpack and pack the wound so we could have  a few days away in the van.

But yesterday, was yesterday and he pushed all the buttons and I needed a rant.

    It's allowed isn't it?

  • Of course it’s allowed, Silverberg!

    sending hugs xxx
