Hi everyone

i have had quite a traumatic 4 years since i was diagnosed with a rare type of breast cancer back in June 2015. Last year i was also diagnosed with gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed, I had been blaming my symptoms on the tamoxifen i had been taking. i also suffered with depression for a long while after i started taking tamoxifen. My designated cancer nurse was not very nice with me which did not help my journey but i kept quiet about that for 2 years until eventually i broke down and since then i have spoken to various friends who have also had the same treatment from the same nurse. At least that made me feel like it wasn't 'just' me.

I feel like now, at last, i am on the road to recovery and at the start of this year, i was determined to get my fitness back and lose the weight (2 stones) i had put on while i had been ill. I have now lost 1 1/2 stones.

i joined our new village running club and have been running twice to three times per week and last week we ran the Blackpool night run which was 7.5K and some of us got our first medal and T-shirt. We were buzzing and very proud at what we have achieved in 8 months. Also, at the end of October we will be running the Leeds Abbey Dash which is 10K.

At the moment, i am being checked out for skin cancer. You can't make it up can you! But that is 3 bad things in 4 years, so surely, i can't get anything else .... can i? I certainly hope not.

  • Welcome back .

Sorry you find yourself here again. You seem to have overcome the after effects and depression; well done! Good luck with your skin investigations xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

Thank you :) My skin investigations were diagnosed as Actinic keratosis (pre-cancerous cells), treated with cryo (freezes the cells). Sorry for the late response, i havn't logged on for a while. Hope you are well xx
