Hi all,
i am starting radiotherapy next Tuesday 10th Sept and will be having 20 sessions. I had a WLE and SNB for IDC in right breast. I also had DCIS and LCIS and a radial scar (all discovered during surgery) so lots going on in there. The surgeon said I have what they refer to as ‘fruity breasts’ Thankfully though there was no lymph involvement and he got clear margins first time. I’ve read all the info on radiotherapy and it seems that I just need to drink plenty of water and put lots of cream on my boob to lessen side effects. Any other tips greatly appreciated.
Thankyou and good luck to everyone else starting radiotherapy this month too.
T xx
Hi
I start on the 19th. This is not my first time so not too worried. The worst bit is the actual backwards and forwards and waiting. I got a bit sore and I've had other minor niggles as side effects but nothing massive. Main things are moisturize, start now, hydration and rest if possible. Some people carry on working . I didn't have to and I've retired now.
I skipped bras in favour of vest tops with hidden support from m and s. Make sure your mobile in the shoulder.
I hated the being moved about like a side of bacon but it has to be done.
Where are you going?
Hi Silverberg,
Thanks for your reply and the tips.
I’ll be having it done in Norwich at the main hospital’s Conley centre and thankfully I’m off work until all treatment finished so I can rest when I need to.
