so fed up, I’m being shipped from pillar to post, I have no idea what the hell is happening, they have now cancelled my chemo next week, sent me to a&u to be admitted (who had no real idea why I was there), was also there last week, done bloods and xrays of chest and stomach and sent me home, so what the hell happens now I just sit and wait for some form of contact, feel so unsupported or even cared for and don’t know what to do, I honestly feel like I’m going to have s bloody breakdown

  • I have no suggestions but I wanted you to know you are not on your own. I have read everything that is happening to you and it seems awful to me that you are left with so little information about why things are being cancelled. I don't live in the UK so I'm not sure about what is normal procedures.  I know lots of people have a designated nurse.....do you? Otherwise I suggest you ask your GP to find out on your behalf what is happening. You must be so worried because no one says what is going on. Hopefully my reply will put your question to the top of the list. I am thinking about you....cyber hugs

No designated nurse,  just don’t know what to do or where to turn, not sure how much more of this I can take mentally let alone physically x

  • Help needed.......Please can someone give Boo an idea of where to turn next? I can't because my experience is too specific to France. I think her question is getting by -passed on the list but she does need to know what to do........

Have you tried calling the MacMillan lot?  They're my first line defence should I have any queries (that's how it works at my hospital who are doing a sterling job so far) following which they, MacMillan, will triage to GP, cancer team, oncologist etc. Hope they can help and give some knowledgable advice.

    Good luck

  • I think that as you're not having chemo this week you should try to get something moving with PALS.  You should get more support than you are,  and hopefully will  be better sorted once they have to show accountability for the treatment you have.  I know that you said  it was difficult to get to your hospital by public transport,  so I'm guessing that it's the only hospital around? You've had a really tough few weeks and probably feel a bit abandoned,  so make sure that they understand the emotional and psychological trauma this is causing you. Hopefully you'll start to feel a bit better this week as the effects of the chemo wear off as well.  Xx

I spoke to Macmillan last week and although they really helped my mental state for a couple of hours and advise on trying to get some help for my mental state there isn’t much going in my area, advised speaking to gp which I have done but not really got anywhere, I think my next step is pals to see if they can help I’m just scared they will then refuse to treat me

Only difficult as it’s two buses away and have no transport, I’m just struggling to deal with any of this and this shoving me here and there isn’t helping my mental state, one says it isn’t chemo and the other says it is, what the hell am I supposed to do, I told them exactly what had happen and what would happen when they sent me back to a&u and they was like no it won’t be like that, well yes it was exactly like that, the consultant I saw didn’t even know why I was there

  • They have to treat you,  and if PALS are involved it will be monitored, making it more likely that they will do so well.  Are you seeing your consultant at the end of the week to see if you can have chemo next week?

I have no idea of anything, oncology shipped me off to be admitted to a&u and a@u shipped me off home, I asked what happens now about chemo or anything and they didn’t know

  • If you go to the  hospital tomorrow you could speak to PALS about your issues, and how they are affecting you. Ask if you are meant to/ could have a breast nurse to contact. Mine checks any issues or questions i have contacted her about with my surgeon or oncologist and either gets back to me with an answer or asks me to come in and be seen. . It sounds like communication is a big part of the problem at your hospital,  and it may be that the oncologist thinks that you are getting help,  though should really be aware of what's going on when they look at your progress during team meeting.
