Hi just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Stage 3, HER 2 positive and spread into lymph nodes.
Wasn't overly happy with my local hospital so have been referred to the Royal Marsden and will start my chemo in a couple of weeks.
I'm struggling to come to terms with it but getting there slowly. The main reason being that it is my third cancer - how many cancers can one person have?
Ironically I'm still under the Royal Marsden for my current cancer which thankfully has cleared after a course of radiotherapy and brachytherapy but they still want to keep an eye on me.
I feel sad because I was due to retire next month and feel like my retirement plans have been shattered.
However I've survived my other cancers so will just add another to my belt and get on with it.
Chemo hats - just ordered a few but they are all slightly big, anyone know where you can get small ones?
Thanks for reading.
hi
I was treated at the Marsden for Her2+ breast cancer in 2015 and still go for annual scans.
It's pretty busy, isn't it.
I ordered some beanie type hats which seem to be once size fits all.
What other cancers did you have, if you don't mind me asking ?
hugs
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
Yes the Marsden is busy. I find it very grounding, especially when everyone in that hospital has cancer.
I had chronic myeloid leukemia in 1990. They gave me 2/5 years to live but I was very lucky and had a bone marrow transplant.
Then in 2010 I had hysterectomy due to cervical dysplasia.
Then in 2014 I had a rare vaginal cancer - under the Royal Marsden for this.
Then last month got diagnosed with breast cancer!!
I must be a cancer magnet!?
This last cancer has really hit me hard - just can't believe I have to go through with this again.
Trying to be brave and strong but having some really low moments.
Glad you are doing well.
