Hi, first time on here. I have stage one breast cancer, and had a lumpectomy in March.since then I have had five lots of chemo. And something is bothering me as I'm getting a dull ache in the area of the wound a d under the arm where they took three lymph glands out. It seems to happen after the chemo. Is this something others have experienced?.
I'm day six on my second round, and about 4 days in with each cycle it starts. I'm already swollen and the pulling, shootiing pains are beginning like last time. I had a mastectomy in April (which is relatively ok with the chemo), and a level 3 clearance at the end of May, which swells and pulls for about 10 days.
My breast team never conmmemed when I asked, but our hospital pharmacist and some nurses in thr chemo suite say it's very common.
Nearly four years on, I still get aches and pains in the breast area of my lumpectomy. When I asked I was told it can be scar tissue which takes much longer to heal than you imagine. I don't know if it's the same as your during chemo pains but I know mine get worse just before an ultrasound or mammograms..........
Hi
I'm 12 years on from lumpectomy. No chemo but I did have radiotherapy and full node clearance. I still get pain in my armpit and boob at times. At first I was told it was scar tissue and nerves healing but I would have imagined that to be sorted. I've recently had surgery on my feet for arthritis and unions and they hurt now and again too. I've sort of decided that sometimes things never settle back down completely.
The node clearance site was always more uncomfortable than the lumpectomy site.
This time I've only had some nodes removed but that is more uncomfortable than the lumpectomy site again. The scar isn't as neat either!
I've also put pain down to a "weakness" in that area. So if I'm not 100% that's where it niggles first.Maybe with my feet I'll be able to predict a change of weather!
Seriously though tell BC nurse and docs. They can't help if they don't know.
Hi I'm so glad I came across this today as I haven't been on here for a while. I had lumpectomy and 3 sentinel nodes removed 3/8/18 I then had another opp to actually remove the 3 nodes as they were missed the first time. everything was fine until after radiotherapy (15 sessions) my boob got a lot firmer. it took 6 months for me to finally get an appointment to have someone to check it for me! I was told that this is how she would expect it to feel! I am due to have my 1st Mammogram any day now and I'm really scared, firstly due to the firmness and also the pains I keep getting. Reading all your posts though is making me think that it's not that out of the ordinary.
Hi
My zapped boon looks ten years younger than the unzapped boob. It's just a shame the nipple is a bit sleepy. I'm hoping the radiotherapy on unzapped will sort of bring them into balance. Not that it really matters. I'm still here and the skins got a bit Deidrie Barlow to be flashing too much cleavage.
The first mammogram is sooooo scary. I was fortunate and had a lovely lady who disappeared while I was getting dressed and told me that everything looked good and not to worry too much. It was very uncomfortable though and still is to be honest and its been 12 years since first lot.
The radiographic on the fifth year, when I thought it would all be over was an absolute &$@&$ . She couldn't understand why I found it uncomfortable or why I might need to know that everything was ok before I got the official results. I got upset when I tried to explain but she just shrugged and said nothing. To be fair this was one of the few bad experiences.
Sort yourself out for something nice after. I took flowers into work each year because without the help of people I worked with it would all have been much harder.
So grit your teeth and smile, you've done things that are much harder.
Thank you Yes my zapped boob looked better than unzapped too I'm really lucky in Wales in that I should get my results straight away. Then I'm booking a holiday X
