I'm day 9 of first EC, and although don't feel terrible (still nausea, backache and sore surgery side and arm). My daughters aged 19 and 16 have gone on our family holiday today, shortened, but until next Wednesday, and my husband is likely to go at the weekend for ther remaining days leaving me home alone.
Do most people feel better ish on their last week of thr cycle? I'm a bit worried about coping, though have good hospital support, and my neighbour is also good.
Please can you let me know first way so don't hold back!
Planning a May holiday for next year as a distraction, but feeling sorry for myself:( xx
Hi Londonmumof2
the short answer is yes. Most people feel nearly normal on week 3.
You should see a steady improvement from now until its time for number 2!
Hi Londonmumof2
Had my first FEC 8 July and I've felt fine since Day 7/8. Definitely back to normal since the weekend. My next one due next Monday. Even managed a meal out on Sunday.
Everyone is different so don't beat yourself up too much if you don't feel tip top yet. I'm sure in another couple of days you'll start to feel better and as said by day 14 ish you'll start to feel 'normal' ready for your next one!
Thank you:) 'Ready' isn't a word I'd use lol, but if that's ther case I might even have a trip to the cinema or some other treat with the house to myself! X
Lol yes true, although I feel prepared for my next one. Knowing a little bit more about how I'm going to feel. During the first few days after my first one I was thinking, I cannot do this for 18 weeks then as I slowly felt better it boosted me up - I / we can do this!
I'm in the house on my own most days as the kids and husband go off to school / work, although not now it's school hols. My parents live nearby so I just keep them 'on call' should I feel a bit wobbly.
Hi Londonmumof2,
I can only speak for myself, but I didn’t really have a problem with the first three treatments.
I had EC x 3 and felt ok apart from chemo mouth, (bad taste) and hair loss. I didn’t particularly feel tired, no sickness, I walked mostly every day,
I had a bit of a panic the first time I was out alone but I gave myself a talking too. I was shaking and sweating, it was just a physical reaction to treatment, my nurse explained that your emotions have to come out somehow as I wasn’t feeling down or crying, it was a release, I was fine and it never happened again.
I didn’t fair as well with Docetaxel though. Days 4/5 to day 8 were the worst on that but then I’d pick up again. It differs from person to person I think.
Hope all goes well for you and you get a lot more good days than bad x
