Hello Wave

I am 44 and am in active cancer treatment for ER+, HER2+ breast cancer.  I had neoadjuvant chemo, right mastectomy with auxiliary lymph node clearance in June. CT scan today to plan radiotherapy.  I met my radiotherapy oncologist a couple weeks ago and he also started me on Tamoxifen.  I haven’t had any of the expected side effects apart from headache but was on my cycle when I started the tablets and have been bleeding heavily since.  My gp gave me tablets to stop it, and it slowed a bit but now that I have finished them it’s back to what it was.  Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what was done to stop it?  I had thyroid cancer in my 20’s and have calcium issues since and it’s really affecting it now!

Thank you Blush

    Hi there,

This sounds awful. When are you seeing your oncologist again? Do you have his secretary’s number or email?

I’ve emailed my drs secretary loads, we are now on first name terms lol. Failing that I would get an appointment with your GP, don’t suffer in silence always see or speak to someone. Going through this bad enough as you know having experienced this before.

Wishing you all the best x

    Hello,

I went in today for a ct scan to plan radiotherapy.  I asked the ladies how to get in touch with the oncologist and they went and spoke to him in his clinic.  He said to stop Tamoxifen immediately and they took bloods and will send me an appointment.  So result!  Fingers crossed that it stops quickly too!  I also have the secretary's phone number now too so I can get in touch if necessary in future. :)

    Thank you! xx
