Hello to all of you wonderful people, who are currently going through radiotherapy and welcome to July's Radiotherapy Chat.

This is a place where you can offer support , ask for advice, receive support and just query anything involving radiotherapy. A couple of quick tips, if you're driving to your radiotherapy appointments each day, or any time, ask if your hospital offers free parking for people going through treatment, or if they have a voucher for a discount off parking fees, which a lot of hospitals do offer. Also, try to keep the area moisturised with a fragrance free lotion, to help with soreness. You'll find want more tips along the way on this thread.

For more tips, heres our Radiotherapy Tips Page and I'm sure you all have some of your own tips to share, and ones that people post that you will find useful.

Heres also A link from the Macmillan Information pages, which also includes a helpful video that some of you may want to have a look at.

This is the link to June's Chemotherapy Chat  for those of you who would like to see how the thread works, or to just have a look back at last months chat and see what you can find out from others. It will be locked shortly from replies, but you can still take a look.

Whatever reason you find yourselves here, just remember you're all so strong, amazing and simply the bravest. You've got me again this month! And we are always here for you. You'll always have your Macmillan family here for you, which includes other members who have helped you and been there for you.

Lots of love, hugs, light and healing to each and every one of you,

Alex xxxx

    Hi Pollydog

Hope you are feeling a bit better today?  This cancer lark and the treatments suck don't they.

Still trying to find out cause of mobility problems.   I was fine 4 months or so ago.  We have ruled out brain and bone Mets which is good.  So seeing gp as soon as I can get an appointment for a referral to neurologist and physio.  I fear chemo has triggered something degenerative.   But our minds always go into over drive don't they?

I managed the stairs.  Not easy but I can still do it.  So just doing once a day.  If I forget something from upstairs it will have to stay forgotten!  Making myself get up every 25 minutes and walk a little.  Down the hall and back.  Use it or lose it!

Hope your RT side effects ease soon and next week's forecast heat wave don't make things worse

    Dear Annjac,

Sorry not to get back to you sooner. Thank you. I think it is getting better. Very slow progress though so it’s difficult to tell especially as you sort of get used to pain etc. That said I have just spoken to radio therapy nurse on the phone and told him I think it’s going in the right direction.   Anyway, enough about me. How are you doing? Any news yet on why you are finding it so hard to be mobile. That sounds so so hard. Glad it’s not mets in bone or brain but it would be good to know what you are dealing with. Keep us posted here if you can.

    Thoughts prayers and hugs xxxx
