Hello lovely people, and Welcome to the July Chemotherapy Chat!

This thread is for all of you soldiers, going through chemotherapy to take a look at, ask questions, answer questions and be there for one another in a way only you guys know how.

If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button.

For all of those of you going through chemotherapy, you are superstars. You are amazing, and you are fighting each and every day, you are my heroes. If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and something that you may find you would like to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital you are being treated at; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or discounted (big discount!) So it's worth asking about.

To get a sense of how the thread works, this is the link to the previous months Chemotherapy chat  which will be being locked from replies soon, but have a read anyway if you'd like to.

Remember, you're never alone, you have us! And, just try to focus on what your chemotherapy is doing. Its hopefully kicking your cancers butt.

I hope you are coping with me doing these! And I hope all of you are doing as well as you can do while going through this tough part of your journies.

Happy July Everyone,

Lots of love, hugs, light and healing to each and every one of you.

Rubbish day...day 5 post 2nd chemo..been feeling not too bad at all, bit tired in the afternoons. Had my coffee, cereal, shower and popped up the back of the garden to pick up dog poo..bent over a couple of times and the ground started moving, shouted someone help me, someone help me..and woke up with neighbours and ambulance crew...and a big fat bleeding lip. I was so confused..couldn't tell them my name, where I was. Spent the afternoon in hospital...all observations normal..even my neutrophils back up to 8. I've never fainted before..and I never want to do it again!

    Hi

It can be really scary ...especially when its a new experience and definitly if you are on your own.

Hope you are feeling better ...gentle hug

I was home alone when I collapsed etc etc... but this was the start of  investigations and in turn  treatment.

Glad you got help and your team are on it. It may take a while to 'get over' it if there weren't any signs you were particularly unwell as you may feel it could happen again at any time.

    Take care

  • That sounds really scary but sounds like you were ok in the end. It does take a while to get over these things and it teaches you to not ignore any warning signs.

Remember that even if you feel generally ok, you have had noxious chemicals pumped into you and they're bound to have some effect.

Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

Oh and may I say it's a good job you didn't fall face first into the dog poo hahahaha.

  • My mother tells this story (often - she has dementia) of when she was a girl during WW2. She and her mum were in the park when there was an air raid so they had to drop onto the ground and guess what ... right in the poo.

  • Oh fee what a horrible experience for you. Good to hear your neighbours heard you and helped you out - that wouldn't happen everywhere!

Maybe time to slow down a bit? I did the same the other day thinking I was feeling fine pottering around doing housework then I suddenly felt all wobbly and had to lay down.

I keep getting told off by my family / friends telling me to rest but I just get so bored!

    Hope you're feeling better today.

    Sending hugs x

I felt really woozy when I left hospital after my first chemo so will bear your fainting fit mind when I take the dog out later!  I'm on day 2 post first chemo and feeling a bit better today than I did yesterday - although I am not really up and about yet.  Had to phone hospital yesterday evening as, apart from feeling sick, having sore stomach and a pounding headache. my mouth was really sore and my glands were up.  Nurse told me to try corsodyl mouth wash and phone my gp if I still felt bad in the morning.  Has seemed to help so far so will carry on using it.

  • Feemcg and Mad dog lady - Sending positive thoughts to you both for feeling better today. I can fully sympathise!

I'm day 4, and after feeling fine(ish) apart from a red face and temperature yesterday I woke up felling like I was 2 months pregnant, on a boat, with bad  flu and a sore back today:(   Meds taken 3 hours ago, and still feel the same, but no temperature so far. My face feels weird (tingly and tight) and my axilla surgery feels sore, which it didn't before.....also rushing to pee still after drinking, so every 30 minutes again. I'm not sure if 5 months of this attack on me is worth a 3-4% gain over 10 years, but will try to endure the EC part at least (3 months). Pharmacist is supposed to call today from the hospital after yesterdays trip to A&E, so maybe he can help.....if he calls.....but husband and older daughter away until Friday night so don't know if they'd give anything to my 16-year old if I sent her to collect it..

Head still itchy, but trying not to wash it (I might faint if I bent over!). Apparently about only 28% of people keep more than 50% of their hair with the cold cap on EC, but I'll persevere as it still helps faster regrowth. Meh.
