Hi
I'm not a member of this group but I am one of the online community champions and thought my local knowledge might be of help to you.
But first can I welcome you to the online community and thank for reaching out to us for information.
In Edinburgh there is a local office and in nearly every library in the city there is an information centre as well as in the main hospitals The Royal Infirmary and The Western General" to name but two.
Not knowing why you need to contact Macmillans I'd like to suggest that you speak to one of our friendly advisers who man the telephone support line and can you help in all manner of things and they can be contacted on
0808 808 0000
anyday of the week between 8 am and 8 pm the call is free from landlines and mobiles and the friendly team really will listen to what you have to say and give you advice. I'm sure that by making the call you will get the information you are looking for but if you need any more help please don't hesitate to come back to me and I'll do everything I can to help you but I'm sure the support advisers will be the people you need to speak to.
Ian
Hi , sorry to hear your news.
You could have a look through our various Macmillan Support Line Services then call them on 0808 808 00 00 to be very helpful covering Emotional Support and Practical Information. Clinical Information and Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.
Talking to people face to face can help a lot so check this link as there is a very good Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh.
((hugs))
Hi Raegan,
sorry to hear of your SIL’s situation. The Maggies centre at the Western does a benefits drop in on Monday afternoons - contact number is 0131 537 3131, email edinburgh@maggiescentres.org
The lady who runs MacMillan at the Western is Elaine Gray - 0131 537 3907, Elaine.gray@luht.scot.nhs.gov.
All of above is publicly available info on the web (being GDPR mindful).
I’ve attended both during the course of my treatment and beyond and both are staffed by lovely people. As a previous poster mentioned, MacMillan also run drop ins at various local libraries which might be handier for your SIL.
All the best,
Linda x
