Start my chemo this Thursday, the bearer it gets, the more nervous and scared I'm becoming. I think I've got my head around the needle/drip part, it's the not having any control over the side effects and having a long list of to do and not to do.

My mum got angry with me earlier when I complained about some of the things I can't do, I get that this is helping to make sure the cancer is gone and stays gone, but, I like to be in control and at the minute I don't feel i have any control over my life at all.

Any tips on surviving (sorry, couldn't think of a better word) would be much appreciated. I feel so very alone in this

I can understand why you're worried but i found having the actually treatment wasn't as bad as the waiting for it. You will hopefully feel more in control too. You will know whats happening and when and you will be kicking cancers butt. Don't look too far in advance, take each step at a time.

I never looked at the book with the SEs in it, i thought i'd leave it and see which ones i got as i got them. What chemo are you having? I would just say make sure you drink lots, eat little but often. Keep a check on your temperature (my hospital gave me a thermometer) and take your anti sickness medication even if you don't feel sick.

I found i felt poopy first week, second week i felt better and the last week nearly back to normal ready for it to start all over again. One i got started it didn't seem too long before it was over.

Also remember everyone is different so just because someone had a certain SE doesn't mean you will.
