Hi, I am in the same situation, got my operation booked in for the 31st of may, had MRI scan yesterday because they found something on my liver, I am keeping my fingers crossed it’s nothing sinister, my operation has been cancelled 3 times so far, don’t know how I will cope if it’s cancelled again, good luck with your operation

Hey Fredo, so sorry you’ve had this diagnosis. It is scary heading into the unknown, you will get through it albeit it’s a tough road! Sending you hugs and good wishes for a successful surgery and treatment x

  • Hi and a , and a very warm welcome to this club which we would never have chosen to join, but which will hopefully provide lots of support and shared experiences. I had lumpectomy and node sampling so not exactly the same but I’m sure others will pop in who have had your op. It’s all very scary and we all seem to find that the waiting is the worst. My way of coping was to try to be as prepared as possible eg sorting stuff at work, getting a couple of post op bras and front opening night stuff, digging out baggy shirts for afterwards. Ask lots of questions here and also your breast nurse team. And accept offers of help, you’ve probably helped lots of people going through tricky times, now it’s your turn to put yourself first!

Wishing you both well, this reply will bump the thread up and I’m sure lots of mastectomy advice and tips will pop up. Gentle hugs, HFxx

Thanks good caring advice going to take them tips up things I wouldn’t have thought of. Lots of things to do as well to do with work I’m self employed can’t really afford to take time off. I’m a childminder and the nurses have said I can’t be in contact with children as lots of infections ect with chemo also won’t be able to lift them. Lots of things to think about today. Thank you again all replies mean a lot xx

Hi Fredo. Scary times but you will get through this. I had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago and like you didn’t know what to expect. The op itself was ok and meant an overnight stay in hospital -  a comfy pillow to cuddle helped that first night. I was told to expect to come home with a drain in (which I did) - it might not be the same for you. A dressing gown with pockets is really useful as it means you can still get around. Lots of hugs and good wishes xxx

Hi Welcome to the community none of us ever wanted to be a member of but under the circumstances the best place to be.

I had a mastectomy 6 weeks ago and all i can say is, the waiting and the thinking about it is far worse than actually having it done.

Make sure you use this place as much as you need to, the people here are brilliant at giving advice, support and i found, so hopefully will help you too, put me at ease as i knew what to expect before i had the op done.

So come and ask us any questions, no question is a silly one, believe me i've asked a few lol or even if you just want to rant and scream were here to listen. Talking to people who get you really does help.

    Take Care
