Hi

Started Tamoxifen at end of March. I’m on this at least 5 years before switching to something else.  Been doing not too bad some hot flushes at night but managing with this ok. Read about joint pain being another of the side effects however wasn’t expecting it to feel as bad. It’s mainly in my ankles and feet and worse first thing in the morning getting out of bed. Just wondered if anyone else feeling the same and will it get better?  Or does it depend on which brand you use (I’m currently on TEVA) Also I know some people on here have mentioned supplements to help with this?

Thanks

    Hi Mrs50,

I've been on Tamoxifen for a couple of months and initially on Relon Chem brand.  I was actually good on it with only mild side effects.   However,  they changed the brand to Teva and I felt more fatigued, nauseated and achey.  I spoke to the clinical trials nurse as I didn't know if it could be the trial drug I'm also taking,  but  the pharmacist and the Prof leading the trial told me they thought it was brand change.

I spoke to my local chemist who acknowledged that the change of brand can affect you.  He gave me a different brand until he can get the original Relon Chem.  I still feel very tired and slightly sickly with this one, but a aches not as bad.

I would use trial and error to find the brand that works for you.  I may be changed to Letrazole soon, but until them there is enough for us to cope with without having to put up with unnecessary side effects .

    Hope you get it sorted.

  • Hi

i prefer Teva as Relonchem gave me flushes (none on Teva) and I would hate it to interfere with my precious sleep! I do get joint stiffness when I’ve been in one position for a while, hence why it’s worse in the mornings. The joint pain has been massively helped by a new supplement I’ve started. I don’t want to contravene the forum rules by ‘advertising’ but it’s a brand (similar to 7 oceans) that’s available in many supermarkets and chemists and is a joint glucosamine, omega3 and turmeric treatment. It’s been miraculous.

    All the best,

    Linda xx
