I had kinesiology taping for a short while ......perhaps if you put this in the box you will get any old posts that mention it .....sorry ....not techy

  • Hi , I don’t have experience if bandaging as my Lymphoedema was picked up early, stage one! However if your Lymphoedema is at stage 2 or 3 then yes bandaging would be used until the excess fluid has been removed!

Have you been told this is what you need? Was there something in particular you wanted to know?

Wishing you all the best with your treatment! Oh and just a little reassurance, if and when you do start to wear a compression sleeve, it really isn’t as bad as it sounds! It doesn’t take long before it just becomes part of your daily routine! Take Care. Sal xx

Had my compression sleeve less than two weeks and already it's become a habit to put it on. Together with a session of MLD things are moving in the right direction. Have 4 more sessions of MLD booked so hopefully things will be well in check by then. MLD works like magic!!

    hello,

    thank you

had breast cancer 2014 - all lymph nodes removed.   lymphoedema started a couple of years after masectomy.

yes, for a long time been wearing compression ,  but it was only recently my lymp nurse suggested that bandaging may help.   (wish these people would advice you on procedures early on !!!).

I believe that because I have absolutely no lymh nodes left, that it can never be cured.     but, next time I visit nurse, I will go into it in more details.

    thanks

  • Hi Pam (), I too had a ‘full’ node clearance. You are correct in that we all have this condition for life. But if it is well managed it vacant be kept under control.

Has your arm suddenly increased in size? I’m just wondering why they are suggesting it now? As I thought it was usually offered at the beginning when you are most likely to need fluid moved away from your arm.

I hope it’s not causing you too many issues! Look after yourself Hun and let us know how you get on! Sal x

    hello

    thank you for reply.

when I first started with lympho,  it was following a fall I had,  and I presumed the fall was just my arm swelling up because of this !!   only after a few weeks did I go to doc who sent me for a "dopplar" test  and it was diagnosed as lymphoedema.     then, referred to my local hospice where they have nurses showing you exercises, etc.   followed by  compression garments,  which I do wear.

it was only after my last visit to nurse that she mentioned maybe bandaging could help - but also talked about expense to NHS, etc !!   I shall ask her about it in May.

just interested in ladies views on this bandaging, as I know it means going back to the hospice quite regularly for this bandaging (not that its a real problem,  but it does involve a 40 mile round trip.

    thanks  pam

    hi, angela

yes, I too wear compression gauntlets and do MLD - also have a "massage machine"  which is good.

was just interested to know if this bandaging would be better than compression sleeves - as my lymp nurse suggested bandaging was very good.

no, angela, neither had I ..   I think this is mainly because its an expense on NHS..    as I understand it, you have to go to lymph clinic and nurse bandages the whole arm, and you have to keep it dry and go back to clinic every 2 days to get it re-done.

if you enter  "bandaging to arm for lymphoedema"  plenty of websites explaining about it.

I wish us ladies had all info and options given to us
