Hi All,

Looking into wearing nail varnish during chemo, (Fec-t treatment) but seem to be getting conflicting advice about whether to wear light or dark colours.

Anyone point me in the right direction please.

Many Thanks x

once you start chemo , just get a file and polish , no pushing of cuticles etc , you don’t want to invite infection during chemo when your immune system can be comprised. But get the full works before you start . Grinning

Thank you all for your advice.

I’ve ordered some from a website especially for chemo patients, so it doesn’t dry out nails like ordinary varnish can.

What does everyone use for hydrating the nails, I’ve heard olive or almond oil x

  • I used Vicks Vaporub on my fingernails and toenails, on the advice of a chemo nurse, and it helped enormously. Oddly enough, 18 months after chemo finished, some of my nails started to 'lift' again, but going back to the Vaporub has helped once again! Sticky and smelly, but it's worth it.
