.Hoping for some reassurance .Just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Having lumpectomy in 2 weeks and will then have to wait for results before I know if chemo or just radiotherapy is required. Scary part for me is it's grade 3, positive for oestrogen receptors and HER2 borderline ( they are retesting that). They are saying it's treatable but when I've tried to look about the HER2 result, if it is positive, it's terrifying me. Sorry for rambling on. I'm still in shock from the diagnosis and my mind is all over the place! xx

Thanks Tracy, I'm so glad I posted on this site. Everyone is so positive and I don't feel quite so alone. I have lots of family and friends but it's hard for them to understand how I'm feeling. I don't want people to feel sorry for me all the time. I'm trying to be strong and I know I'll get through it. Roll on 1st June, get this thing out! xxx

    Hi Karen

I was diagnosed with right breast Invasive ductal carcinoma, also grade 3 node negative and Her2 positive.

I had a lumpectomy, followed by chemo then radiotherapy with Herceptin Injections every 3 weeks which finished on April 20th, I am now taking Tamoxifen.

Obviously it is a very scary time and I just wanted to reach out to you and give you a big reassuring hug.

Once i got diagnosed, after the awful wait, once I had my schedule I surprised myself on how I got through it as Im the biggest scardy cat out!!

Anytime you want a chat or ask any question and I mean any question, please chat away.

    Have a nice weekend,Lesley xx

Hello everyone, just looking for a bit more advice. I have my lumpectomy on Friday but the day before I have to go in for the radioactive isotope injection. Sounds scary. Any tips for surgery day and about the injection would be appreciated. Thanks

    Karen xxx

    Hi Karen,

Originally that was what I was having to do at the first hospital I was under but I then moved my care( that was part of the reason why) to another hospital and they did everything on the same day, my surgery was 10th May.

The injection was nothing at all to worry about, if you have had a biopsy I’d say that was worse & even that was ok. Small injection near the nipple area, slight sting but over in seconds.

Hope it all goes ok for you, sending hugs xx

Hi Karen, I had mine yesterday, they put a numbing cream on about an hour beforehand, I barely felt it and it was fine despite me having a bit of a needle phobia. As Moomc said the biopsy was definitely worse.

Mine was all the same day and the whole thing was really nothing to worry about, I was only in surgery for 28 minutes and home for dinner.

To be completely honest, the worst thing was a badly positioned dressing where the node incision was which pinched a bit but I got it changed this morning by a neighbour who is a nurse and it’s just a bit of a dull ache, I don’t even need painkillers.

    Hi Karen 234

    I am 34 was diagnosed with ER/PR + HER2 - on April 30.

I had a lumpectomy on 15th along with a sentanial node biopsy with the radioactive dye stuff. I was worried too as I thought it was going to be like a proper biopsy but infact it was a tiny little needle i didn’t even feel it go in. The nurse even had to do it twice as not enough went in the first time.

Good luck with it all. I got my results back last week. I was told that mine hadn’t spread anywhere else. So happy. Just waiting to find out if I need chemo as part of my treatment. I think I will Because of my age.
