Thank you for such a positive missive to those of us that are doing chemo this month - I had my first today & was terrified ... particularly as I had to wait 10 weeks since my surgery (mastectomy) as the implant became infected (long story) the cold cap was initially excruciating but I hung on ... & the rest was relatively easy

a lovely friend held my hand throuout - I’ve got a lot of meds to help avoid nausea & so far that’s ok - slightly head achey at first - (may have been the freezing of the head ) & I’m ok now in bed post early supper warm & relaxing

Might I experience things getting worse in the nxt day or so ? Or weeks ? (Plan EC x4 cycles then Paclitaxal x4 cycles : total 20 weeks )

Thank you so much for reading

    Hi Cathy   and everyone,

I have started cycle 5 of Capecitabine, one of the SE is a very sore nose,  inside. Do you have any recommendations for a nasal spray please?

I’m going to request one from GP but it’s useful if anyone has had recommendations from Chemo Nurses Onc’s etc. Thank you.

    Hi Judith /

Assuming your sore nose is caused by infection similar to sore mouth problems you could ask your GP if they think Bactroban Nasal Cream would help you or can offer an alternative ?

It is an anti bacterial and is fairly cheap so could be worth a try but is a POM, so has to be prescribed...

Besides the sore nose how are you getting on with Capec ?

    Hugs, G n' J

    Hi Judith ( )

Sorry, I can't help you with that one as I didn't get the sore nose thing - occasional spotting of blood but that was it!

Hope you get it sorted - you seem to be going through it a bit on Cape!

  • Hi , I had this and nose bleeds as a result. The nurses gave me a little tube of yellow vaseline and it really worked. Xxx

None of us wanted to be in this group, but we are glad we're not alone.

Diagnosis 2/8/17 IDC Her2+, 22mm, with spread to several lymph nodes. TCHP chemo started 23/8/17, Mx with immediate, temp recon 24/1/18, rads 20/3 to 10/4/18, Herceptin by IV until Nov 18. RR Mx Jan 23. Still waiting for reconstruction, but opting for simple implants, as opposed to Diep, due to long waiting lists for diep.

It helps if you mention which chemo drugs you are having so those on the same regime can advice and support you.
